Mariam Ibraheem

Mariam Ibraheem, a Sudanese Christian, was thrown into prison and sentenced to death in December 2013 on charges of Apostasy. Though a Christian herself, Mariam came from a Muslim background and was convicted of Apostasy for marrying a Christian man and refusing to recant her faith. She was pregnant and her torture and execution were delayed until after she gave birth to a baby girl while in chains. Due to increased public awareness and intervention through diplomacy and human rights activism, Mariam was released and migrated to the United States with her family. Mariam stands in solidarity with those oppressed and suffering for their faith. She has most recently testified as a survivor of religious persecution at the U.S. State Department’s Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom in July 2019. Her passion and commitment to defending the vulnerable, however, is done on a volunteer basis. She needs financial support to continue to advocate for those in need.
